Russian Drone Attack on Kyiv Kills Father and Young Daughter in Church
Russia’s drone attack on Kyiv has caused the destruction of a church and the death of a father and his young daughter.
The “Emmanuel” Church in Kyiv announced via an Instagram post that two Russian drones struck the church building in the capital’s outskirts. According to the published report, the first drone exploded in the air, damaging the church roof, walls, vehicles, and surrounding area. The second drone dropped a bomb near a temporary shelter where displaced families were residing on the church premises.
One of the church leaders commented on the drone attack: “In this explosion, a father and his young daughter were killed, and the mother of the family survived because the blast wave threw her several meters away from the shelter. She was found 50 meters from the incident site and was transferred to a hospital.”
The family in question was from the “Urykhiv” region and were war refugees who had fled their homes due to Russian attacks. They were living in a temporary shelter provided by the church. After arriving in Kyiv, the father was engaged in humanitarian activities and service at the church.
The church leader released a statement expressing deep sorrow and grief over the incident: “Our church has faced a terrible tragedy. According to the Psalms, the Lord is close to the brokenhearted. He saves those who have lost hope. We know that God has not left us alone. He is still with us even in these dark moments. We believe that love is more powerful than death, and our church, as a symbol of faith, hope, and resilience, will be reborn. Now is the time to glorify the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.”
The church also published information on its official website, announcing its willingness to support those facing these difficult circumstances.
It should be noted that the drones used in attacks on Ukraine are Iranian-made kamikaze drones of the “Shahed-136” type, which Russia has been using to target Ukraine’s critical infrastructure and civilian areas. These drones do not possess advanced technology and are only capable of causing damage, fear, and terror.
