Lack of Medical Care for “Siamak Aminii” in Prison

“Siamak Aminii”, a political prisoner, is deprived of medical care for his health condition in prison.

Siamak Aminii, born in 1341 and a resident of Tehran, is a former political prisoner from the 1980s who spent time in prison from 1363 to 1368. He was also among the protesters in the nationwide protests of 1401.

In December 1402, Revolutionary Guards raided his residence and confiscated some of his belongings during a search. Mr. Aminii was summoned for interrogation three times and was released on bail of five hundred million tomans at the final interrogation session.

In April 1403, Siamak Aminii was sentenced by Branch 26 of Tehran’s Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge “Iman Afshari”, to four years and three months in prison plus supplementary punishment. On August 5, after referring to the Criminal Enforcement Branch One of Evin Prison’s prosecution office, he was arrested and transferred to Evin Prison to serve his sentence.

He was subsequently sentenced by Branch 36 of Tehran Province’s Court of Appeals on the charge of “assembly and conspiracy to commit crimes against domestic and foreign security” to three years, six months and one day in prison, and on the charge of “propaganda against the Islamic Republic system” to seven months and sixteen days in prison. He was also sentenced to supplementary punishment including prohibition from membership in political and social groups and organizations, ban on using smartphones, and prohibition from leaving the country for two years.

Now that he is serving his sentence in Evin Prison, despite his poor physical condition, due to his refusal to wear prison clothing, he has been deprived of being sent to the hospital. He suffers from “Behçet’s disease” (a rare autoimmune disease) which requires specialized treatment, and this illness has caused him skin complications. The prison physician has requested various tests at Shahid Tajrish Hospital to examine his condition, but yesterday the prison director refused to send him to the hospital due to his refusal to wear prison clothing.

In the past, he was also deprived of medical care in prison due to his refusal to wear prison clothing, while it is possible that the cause of this skin condition may be the wearing of prison clothes, which prison officials insist on him wearing.
