India’s National Commission for Minorities Urges Federal Government to Implement Security Measures for Christians

India’s National Commission for Minorities has called on the federal government through a letter to implement security measures to protect Christians.
In recent days, “Adesh Soni,” a Hindu right-wing activist, posted violent incitement calls on social media with inflammatory statements aimed at launching an anti-Christian movement, causing severe concern within India’s Christian community.
According to a report by the “Catholic” news agency, the National Commission for Minorities, on February 25, sent a letter to the federal government. While expressing concern about the threats made and referring to threatening posts on social media and the formation of an anti-Christian movement aimed at killing Christians, it asked the federal government to take necessary measures to protect Christians in the state of “Chhattisgarh.”
“A.C. Michael,” director of the United Christians Organization who had reported the aforementioned threats to the Commission for Minorities, wrote while referring to posts published by Adesh Soni: “The United Christians Organization, despite the threats, will continue to document and report cases of harassment and persecution of Christians in India.”
In his published posts, Adesh called on Hindus to rape and kill Christians. He also released a video of himself speaking at a religious gathering in which he announced preparations for demonstrations against Christians on March 1st.
In addition to Adesh Soni, “Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaran” and “Saraswati,” Hindu religious leaders, also openly emphasized the massacre of Christians in this video and called on Hindus to act against them. However, Soni later claimed the released videos and posts were fake and stated that their publication was a conspiracy against him.
The director of the United Christians Organization also announced that these threatening videos have created fear and terror among Christians throughout India, and his organization has been forced to seek help from the Commission for Minorities. He also stated that in the state of “Chhattisgarh” there is an anti-Christian atmosphere where Christians, in addition to social boycotts, are constantly under attack.
