ISIS Escalates Attacks Against Christians in Mozambique

Attacks and provocations by the terrorist group ISIS in Mozambique have intensified, with these assaults now extending to Christian villages.

Seven years have passed since conflicts began in the Cabo Delgado region, Mozambique’s northernmost province, during which approximately 100,000 people have abandoned their homes and become displaced. These conflicts are the result of attacks and provocations by the terrorist group ISIS in the region. Multiple reports of violent clashes between Islamist militant ISIS groups and security forces in various areas of Cabo Delgado province have been documented.

ISIS has continued violence and conflicts in southeastern Cabo Delgado, extending them to Christian villages in the region and attacking them. The terrorist group has assaulted homes, government facilities, and churches, setting them ablaze to ensure no one can resettle in these areas. Through these actions, they aim to create conditions for further provocations by the extremist Islamist terrorist group.

In these areas, when any civilians, particularly Christians in the region or members of the Mozambique army, are captured by ISIS, they are beheaded, and photos and videos of the killings are distributed to create terror and intimidate more villages into evacuation, thereby facilitating further provocations by the extremist Islamist terrorist group.

The British charity organization Save the Children announced on Tuesday that over 99,000 people, including 61,000 children, have left their homes due to violence in northern Mozambique. Published reports also indicate that several children have been abducted and beheaded.

Last year, the terrorist group ISIS declared in Mozambique that it would commit genocide against all Christians and Jews unless they convert to Islam or pay jizya (protection tax). With this message, ISIS declared an endless war against Mozambique and called on Muslims to either cooperate or face the consequences.
