Execution of “Danial Kazeminezhad” on Charge of Killing a Basij Member

The execution sentence of “Danial Kazeminezhad” on the charge of killing a Basij member in Kermanshah has been carried out.

Danial Kazeminezhad, a resident of “Lur Shabad” village, was arrested on June 8, 2023 on the charge of killing “Sajad Amiri”, a Basij fighter and member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, at the Ghatowr border in West Azerbaijan Province. After some time, he was sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court of Kermanshah.

Media outlets close to the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps reported in May 2022 the killing of Sajad Amiri in a security mission in Kermanshah, referring to him in their report as a “martyr defender of security”.

According to a report by the human rights organization “Hengaw”, Revolutionary Guards forces attacked Lur Shabad village last year, and after armed clashes, summoned and detained nearly 160 residents of the village.

Early on Sunday morning, July 22, the execution sentence of Danial Kazeminezhad was carried out without prior notice and without his right to a final visit with his family in “Diesel-abad” prison in Kermanshah. His burial ceremony was held under pressure from security agencies yesterday evening in his hometown village.

The execution of Danial Kazeminezhad on the charge of killing a Basij member took place while many Iranian citizens, including women, men, and children, were intentionally killed by security forces during nationwide protests, or were shot at close range with pellet bullets in their faces and bodies, resulting in blindness. However, not only were fair trials not held for them, but many of them were sentenced to execution, imprisonment, or other severe sentences on frivolous grounds and without any evidence.
