Final Court Session in Case of Political Activist Saeid Minai

The final court session hearing charges against Saeid Minai, a political activist, was held in Branch 15 of Tehran’s Revolutionary Court.

On the 16th, 17th, and 18th of Bahman 1402 (February 2024), Saeid Minai, a political activist in the Azerbaijani National Movement, along with several other activists, was arrested by intelligence forces without presenting a warrant and in an unlawful manner. After a period of detention at the Intelligence Ministry’s detention center in Tabriz, he was transferred to solitary confinement in Ward 240 of Evin Prison.

After 16 days in solitary confinement, Saeid Minai was transferred to Ward 209 of the Intelligence Ministry’s detention center at Evin Prison. Finally, on the 23rd of Esfand 1402 (March 14, 2024), he was temporarily released from Evin Prison pending the completion of legal proceedings after posting a bail of 800 million tomans.

During a court session held on the 5th of Khordad 1403 (May 25, 2024) for Saeid Minai, he was charged by Judge Abolqasem Selavati with “gathering and conspiracy to commit crimes against the country’s internal security.” He denied the charges and presented his defense to the court.

Now, in a session held on the 18th of Shahrivar 1403 (September 9, 2024) in Branch 15 of Tehran’s Revolutionary Court presided over by Judge Selavati, he presented his final defense regarding the charges of “gathering and conspiracy to commit crimes against the country’s internal security” and rejected the allegations and their details.

It is worth noting that at the time of preparing this report, no information about the verdict issued against this political activist is available.
