Death Sentence for “Toomaj Salehi” Sparks International Reaction

The news of the death sentence issued for “Toomaj Salehi” has sparked numerous reactions across the world and at the international level.
Many members of the European Parliament and prominent opposition figures have condemned the death sentence issued by the Revolutionary Court for Toomaj Salehi and called for his unconditional release.
“Nathalie Goulet,” a member of the French Senate, reacted to this action by posting a message on the social media platform X, writing: “The court has sentenced Toomaj, an Iranian rapper, to death. We must organize protests to save his life.”
“Abram Pelly,” the Special Envoy of the United States Government for Iran, also posted a message on the social media platform X, condemning the death sentence for Toomaj Salehi and the five-year exile sentence for Saman Yasin, stating: “These are the latest examples of the Iranian regime’s ruthless oppression of its own citizens, disregard for human rights, and fear of the democratic change that the Iranian people are seeking.”
Hamed Esmaeilion, a prominent opposition figure, also wrote, referring to Toomaj Salehi as a symbol of the heroic struggle of the Iranian people: “Execution, killing, and violence are the Islamic Republic’s last resort. A government that has come to kill hope, a government that wants to instill hopelessness in people, is oblivious to the fact that it has already lost the battle against the people’s anger. A government that is deeply terrified of the people’s rage.”
He also announced a call that is scheduled to take place on Saturday and Sunday of the coming week for marches and multiple gatherings around the world in protest against Toomaj Salehi’s death sentence.

“Helmut Brandstätter,” a member of the Austrian Parliament and political sponsor of Toomaj Salehi, also posted a video in front of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Austria, condemning the sentence issued against Toomaj and declared: “The Islamic Republic is a terrorist state. Not only because of its attack on Israel, but according to official statistics, three people are executed daily, some of whom may have been executed simply because they expressed their desire to live in democracy.”
While calling on “Alexander Schallenberg,” the Austrian Foreign Minister, to make efforts for Toomaj’s release, he added: “We cannot sit idle and witness the killing of Toomaj Salehi.”
Prince Reza Pahlavi also reacted to the sentence issued against Toomaj Salehi, posting a message on the social media platform X: “The Islamic Republic has sentenced Toomaj Salehi, its opposing rap singer, to death. This regime has been in conflict with artists from its very beginning, especially artists who have used their talent to defend Iran’s freedom. I call upon the international community, especially artists around the world, to be the voice of Toomaj and to make efforts for the immediate reversal of this shameful sentence and his unconditional release from prison.”
