“Dina Galibaff” Released from Evin Prison on Bail

Journalist “Dina Galibaff” was released from Evin Prison on bail after two weeks.
Dina Galibaff, a journalist and undergraduate student of political science at Shahid Beheshti University who opposes mandatory hijab, was arrested on April 18th by security forces at her residence. The day before her arrest, she had posted a message on the social media platform X in which she recounted that she had been sexually assaulted by officers of the morality police.
In her post, she wrote: “In the police room at Saadatabad Metro Station, when I insisted that as long as I pay taxes, I have the right to use the metro, they violently took me to a room and used a stun gun on me. My hands were handcuffed the entire time and one of the officers sexually assaulted me. While the police officer constantly mocked Zhina and other women and spoke in the most offensive language, he came and while my hands were cuffed, he ran his hand across my face and began caressing my face.
To take my wallet, they pressed my thumb and now I can barely move it. Despite wearing a headscarf, they forced me to remove my Kurdish shawl so they could photograph me from all angles.”
Civil activist Narges Mohammadi also on May 23rd posted a message from inside the prison, referring to Dina Galibaff, stating: “An hour ago, another daughter of Iran, Dina Galibaff, entered the women’s ward of Evin Prison with bruises and an account of sexual harassment.”
According to reports released, Ms. Galibaff was supposed to be released on May 24th with a bail deposit of 500 million tomans, but her release was suspended at the last moment. Judicial authorities made her release conditional on signing a commitment at the prosecutor’s office stating that the sexual assault by officers, police forces, and hijab enforcers in the metro, as well as Narges Mohammadi’s account released from prison, were false.
She has now been released from prison with numerous restrictions, after depositing bail. It is worth noting that Ms. Galibaff has previously worked with the ISNA news agency and Online Economics.
