Israel Sends Warships and Submarine to Red Sea

Israel has sent warships and a submarine to the Red Sea following attacks by Houthis.

According to the Al Arabiya news network, the Houthis had attempted to target several merchant ships in the Bab al-Mandeb Strait with missiles and Iranian-made drones, but they were neutralized by Israeli and American warships. In response to these attacks, Israel has sent several warships and a submarine to the Red Sea.

The Pentagon, the U.S. Department of Defense, also reported an attack on an American warship and several merchant ships in the Red Sea yesterday. Additionally, according to Reuters, Ambrey, a British maritime security company, announced that a container ship was damaged by a drone attack approximately 100 kilometers northwest of the port of Hodeidah in northern Yemen.

It is worth noting that Houthi attacks on merchant ships and the damage they cause will lead to increased commodity prices. A security source also stated in this regard: “Currently, the best solution regarding the threat to maritime security is to respond to the Houthis and warn Iran.”

An informed source at the Pentagon also stated: “We are aware of reports regarding attacks on the American destroyer USS Carney and merchant ships in the Red Sea.”

General Yahya Saree, the military spokesperson for the Houthis, claimed responsibility for these attacks last Sunday night and said: “Houthi forces targeted two Israeli ships in the Bab al-Mandeb Strait. We will continue to prevent the passage of Israeli ships in the Red Sea until Israel stops its attacks on our brothers in Gaza.”

According to his statements, the first ship was targeted with an anti-ship missile and the second ship was targeted with a drone. He also added, referring to the aforementioned ships ignoring warning messages: “We once again warn Israeli ships and any ship that is associated with Israel in any way. If you violate our armed forces’ statements, you will be considered legitimate targets.”
