Continued Detention and Lack of Information Regarding Dana Lanjabadi’s Status

The detention of Dana Lanjabadi, a civil activist, has continued for thirteen days, and his family remains unaware of his condition.
Dana Lanjabadi, a civil activist from Marivan, was arrested by security forces in Marivan on February 20, 2024. Two days later, the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office of Marivan issued a one-month detention order against him on charges of propaganda against the regime.
Dana Lanjabadi was previously convicted by the Marivan Revolutionary Court in 2012 on charges of “propaganda against the regime” to one year of imprisonment and on charges of “disruption of public order” to eight months imprisonment and 50 lashes. He was also barred by the Intelligence Department from continuing his studies at Payam Noor University in Marivan due to pressure. Now, without any judicial documents being presented, he has been detained by the Marivan Intelligence Department and transferred to the security detention facility of that institution.
According to published reports, after thirteen days have passed since his detention and despite his family’s follow-up inquiries with judicial and security authorities, the relevant officials have refrained from providing clear answers regarding his condition, charges, and fate.
It is worth noting that since his arrest, Dana Lanjabadi has not only been deprived of the ability to contact his family, but has also been denied access to a lawyer.
After thirteen days have passed since Lanjabadi’s arrest, uncertainty and lack of information about his condition has left his family and relatives in deep concern.
