Cyberattack on Fuel Stations in Iran

Following a cyberattack on fuel stations in Iran, services at 70 percent of gas stations were disrupted.

According to media reports in Iran, on the morning of Monday, December 18, the supply of gasoline and diesel faced problems in most provinces. Jalil Salari, Deputy Minister of Oil, announced that this disruption is a conspiracy.
“Reza Navaz,” spokesperson for the Iranian Fuel Station Association, while not denying the cyberattack, stated: “The disruption in gasoline supply is nationwide and a technical issue.” He emphasized that all specialists and personnel are working to resolve this disruption in the coming hours.
Regarding the disruption at fuel stations, a hacking group named “Raptor Sparrow” that has previously carried out operations against Iran’s online systems claimed responsibility for this disruption on its X account and Telegram channel this morning.
Reza Navaz, spokesperson for the fuel station sector, added: “There is absolutely no shortage of gasoline and diesel, and price increases are not on the agenda. This disruption is a technical problem, and we ask the public that if they do not have an urgent need for gasoline, please do not visit gasoline and diesel supply stations until the problem is completely resolved.”
