Leadership Emphasis on Policy Reform

Seyyed Ibrahim Raisi, at the ceremony of the ninth session of the Expediency Discernment Council, thanked the Supreme Leader for his confidence in the members of the new session of the Expediency Discernment Council. He further stated that we must have mastery over the facts and issues of the country in order to keep it stable. He added that oversight of the implementation of the system’s general policies is of great importance, and therefore the Expediency Discernment Council bears enormous responsibility.
The Supreme Leader also emphasized policy reform so that these policies are implemented correctly. But what part of the country do these new policies harm?
Mr. Raisi stated in his remarks that attention must be paid to key pillars of independence, freedom, attention to justice, science and technology, and Islamic lifestyle. He referred to all issues that today show no signs in Iran. Freedom of speech has been taken from the people and they are treated with injustice and anger.
Mr. Raisi referred to the Islamic lifestyle. This means they still follow the statements of Ayatollah Khomeini, who stated at the beginning of his rule that “national individuals are not useful to us, but Muslim individuals are useful to us.” Islam is opposed to nationalism, nationalism means we want nation and nationality and do not want Islam, and this theory must be suppressed. What does this theory indicate? Is it anything other than that the rulers of the system are not part of this people, and the reason for their pressure and suppression is to keep only Islam and Muslims at the top?
Mr. Raisi states that these matters should be seen in the country’s general direction. Are these the policies that need reform—to continue suppression and injustice and only impose the Islamic lifestyle on the people?
He continued: Implementation of general policies is my emphasis, and I believe the country should operate within this framework. He called on lawmakers and other state and governmental institutions to pay attention to general policies so they can be implemented. He also added that they have complete readiness to cooperate with the Expediency Discernment Council.
Finally, he called on officials to make all efforts to increase trust and hope in the system’s institutions so that the people are hopeful and the enemy is disappointed.
The question is: Are these policies putting more pressure on the people? Should the people trust and be hopeful toward a government that does not allow freedom of speech and drains people with blood and soil for its own survival?
