Israel and Hamas Agree to Extend Temporary Ceasefire

Israel and Hamas have agreed to extend the temporary ceasefire for a seventh day.
The Israeli military and Hamas announced an agreement to extend the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip for a seventh day after six days of truce. According to Qatar’s Foreign Ministry, the seventh day of ceasefire between Israel and Hamas will take place under the same previous conditions, and Qatar’s Foreign Ministry continues its efforts to achieve a permanent ceasefire in Gaza.
Hamas announced on Thursday, December 30th, through a statement that Israel has rejected the proposal to hand over a new group of women and child captives in exchange for extending the ceasefire under previous conditions.
The United States, Qatar, and Egypt are countries that have mediated the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. They are also working to accelerate the prisoner exchange process by extending the ceasefire, which includes Israeli soldiers held captive by Hamas, as the exchange so far has only involved women and children.
The aforementioned countries are striving to meet Israel’s demand for the daily release of 10 captives in order to extend the duration of the ceasefire.
