Masoud Pezeshkian: The World is Pursuing Artificial Intelligence While We Fear Those Who Speak the Truth

Masoud Pezeshkian, a parliamentary representative, while referring to artificial intelligence, expressed that we fear those who speak the truth, yet the world is pursuing artificial intelligence.

Masoud Pezeshkian, the representative of the people of Tabriz, Ahar, and Asku in the Islamic Consultative Assembly, regarding the state of the internet in the country, said: “The world is moving toward artificial intelligence and internet technology, but we are restricting cyberspace, and if we continue to act this way, in the not-too-distant future we will create a country that will have a great distance from the advanced world. We always focus on the misuse of the internet, while we should not deprive good people because of those who misuse the internet.”

He, while pointing out that the mentioned restrictions only increase people’s anxiety and anger, added: “People use the internet in every way, and restrictions are ineffective, while we should always welcome innovations and be pioneers. Managers who take no risks and flee from innovations create a backward society and people who are trapped and hungry.

Masoud Pezeshkian, in response to the question “Is there a possibility of removing internet restrictions,” said: “With the perspective that exists in the country, I don’t think we have the courage to open up cyberspace, and only those who have an open mind and the necessary thinking to address problems can do this, and those who are weak scientifically and professionally will not allow issues to be raised that question them, and this issue causes them not to allow the space to be opened.”

Mr. Pezeshkian also, while referring to the current situation of the people in Iran and their pursuit of justice, noted: “In the early days of Islam, the only action of tribal leaders against Prophet Muhammad was to not allow him to speak, but now we are afraid of certain people speaking, and instead of speaking the truth and conversing fairly, we fear those who want to speak the truth. Whereas if he is speaking the truth and we have objections, then we must correct ourselves, but if he is speaking falsehoods, cyberspace is an opportunity for us to expose them.”
