Sale of Churches and Their Conversion to Bars, Restaurants and Luxury Homes

Swedish television “SVT” reported on the sale of churches and their conversion into bars, restaurants and luxury homes.

In the past, people believed that “Jesus Christ, the living God, was born of a virgin woman and rose again after death,” but today’s generation shows no interest in this matter.

According to reports from Swedish television “SVT,” the beliefs of the past have been challenged by today’s generation, resulting in the emptying of churches. According to Swedish church reports, these churches cannot afford the maintenance costs of empty buildings, and these beautiful and historic structures are being sold one after another.

The sale of churches began in 2000 and continues to this day, with over 125 churches sold in Sweden in the past 23 years. After being sold, these historic buildings are converted by buyers into bars, discotheques, nightclubs, or even residential and luxury homes.

Among the buyers of historic churches is “Zlatan Ibrahimović,” a renowned Swedish footballer. By purchasing a large church in one of the central areas of Stockholm, he converted it at considerable expense into a luxury residential home for his residence in the capital.

Swedish television “SVT” also referred to a church in the “Södermalm” area of Stockholm where, these days, instead of prayers and worship, glasses of beer are raised “to health,” and pop songs are played through its organ for today’s generation.
