Transfer of ‘Nayeb Hajizadeh Yengeje’ to Solitary Confinement in Urmia Prison

“Nayeb Hajizadeh Yengeje” was transferred to solitary confinement in Urmia Prison this morning as a punitive measure.
“Nayeb Hajizadeh Yengeje” is a political prisoner who was arrested by security forces in August 2019 and was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment on charges of membership in groups opposed to the system. After some time, his sentence was reduced to 7 years and 6 months of imprisonment.
In June 2021, following a complaint by the prison warden regarding protests by political prisoners and beatings that occurred, another case was opened against him. He was sentenced to 3 months of imprisonment and 50 lashes on charges of “disrupting prison order.” It should be noted that Hajizadeh has been serving his sentence in Urmia Prison for a considerable time without observance of the principle of separation of sentences. This morning, Thursday, June 1, 2023, this political prisoner was transferred to solitary confinement in the aforementioned prison as a punitive measure.
The reason for this transfer is Nayeb Hajizadeh’s protest against the non-observance of the principle of separation of sentences, as he is serving his sentence in dormitory 1-2 alongside prisoners accused of murder.
