Massoumeh Azari, Mother of Hannaneh Kia, Responds to the Nights of Destiny

Massoumeh Azari, mother of “Hannaneh Kia,” has responded to the observance of the Nights of Destiny during the month of Ramadan.

“Hannaneh Kia,” born in 1378, was a 22-year-old girl who was killed in Nowshahr during the popular uprising of the Islamic Republic in 1401 when a bullet from the regime’s forces struck her side.

Now the final days of Ramadan are passing, and many Shiites spend the Nights of Destiny and the death anniversary of Ali (the Imam of Shiites) in mosques reciting the Quran, weeping and lamenting, repenting of their sins, and seeking God’s forgiveness.

Massoumeh Azari, mother of Hannaneh Kia, has responded to the observance of the Nights of Destiny, the last of which was last night, by posting a photo of her daughter on her Instagram page and wrote:

“Tonight is the Night of Destiny…? Don’t talk to us about the Night of Destiny. For seven months, every night has been the Night of Destiny for us. You cowardly murderers, do you know when our Night of Destiny was? The night when at 8 o’clock they called us and told us that my daughter had been shot. The night we spent praying in the hospital that my daughter would come out of the operating room safely. The night when the doctor told us if your daughter can endure the two golden hours in the ICU, she will live; otherwise, there is nothing we can do.

The night when my daughter’s lifeless legs were in my hands and I was begging the nurses to continue resuscitation so my daughter’s heartbeat would return, but it didn’t. Oh, you who targeted my daughter’s side and cowardly fired, what sin had my daughter committed?

Do you recite the Quran tonight with those filthy hands? With those hands stained with the pure blood of my Hannaneh, do you say to the Lord, “O Lord, O Lord, pardon, pardon” for your sins? I will not forgive you. Don’t talk to us about the poisoned sword when the bodies of our children have been lifeless from batons and two-era military arrows. Don’t talk to us about Fatima’s broken side when my Hannaneh’s, my beautiful daughter’s side was pierced with a military bullet. You vile murderer, you took my child who had thousands of hopes in her heart. But know this: as long as I live, I will not forgive the unjustly spilled blood of my child, and I remain a seeker of justice for my daughter’s blood, even if I give my life in this path. Dawn is near.”
