The Beginning of Mehr Month and Those Left Behind in Education

The Teachers’ Professional Association of Fars Province released a statement regarding the beginning of Mehr month and those who have dropped out of education.

Today, Saturday, the 1st of Mehr 1402, is the day schools reopen. A day when every child dreams of going to school and sitting in the classroom to learn and build their future, yet due to economic circumstances, they are forced to abandon their dreams and drop out of education.

The Teachers’ Professional Association of Fars Province released a statement regarding the start of Mehr month and the beginning of the academic year, addressing those who have dropped out of education. They wrote: “Mehr month and those left behind in education. We are beginning Mehr month and the reopening of schools while thousands of children have dropped out of education for various reasons. Child laborers, who are among the small victims of poverty, are among those who have abandoned their studies.

While according to Article 30 of the country’s Constitution, the government is obligated to provide education and training equipment and facilities free of charge to all people until the end of secondary education, and to extend higher education facilities free of charge up to the point of the nation’s self-sufficiency.”

The Teachers’ Professional Association of Fars Province further added: “We hope for a day when Article 30 of the Constitution is realized and all students in the land of Iran benefit from free education and educational justice.”

The increase in children who have dropped out of education in Iranian society is occurring while the Islamic Republic system has built many schools in Muslim-majority countries, including Lebanon and Palestine, and provided educational facilities for them, yet the people of Iran are deprived of all these rights that are the rightful claim of every nation in its country. A justice that has never been upheld in Iran, and even if someone claims their rights, they will face arrest, imprisonment, and torture.
