“Ahmad Khatibi”: Last Year’s Events Were Riots, Not Protests

Ahmad Khatibi announced in a speech that last year’s events were riots rather than protests.

Ahmad Khatibi, a member of the Assembly of Experts, in a speech referring to last year’s popular uprising said: “God has favored this system and has kept dangers away from it for over 40 years, dangers many of which were the threat of overthrowing the system. Last year’s events were riots, not protests, and in these events we witnessed the burning of the Quran, burning of flags, insults to religious scholars, insults to mosques and shrines, etc.

However, our nation bravely stood up to the enemy and said: O fly, this is the domain of the phoenix, not your playground. The result of the defeat of the riots was the Albanian police’s raid on the headquarters of the hypocrites. They must know that from Albania to wherever they go in the world, they will be humiliated. Now we say to last year’s rioters that those riots have been defeated and any other riot they create in the home of Imam Hussein, that is Iran, will be crushed and trampled under the feet of the people.”

Ahmad Khatibi’s remarks about the defeat of the riots come at a time when Iranians continue to take to the streets to protest against the overthrow of the system. Not only in protest against the toppling of the system, but daughters and women without observing mandatory hijab continue to be present in streets and public places.

Moreover, Iranians have prepared a call for the first anniversary of Mahsa Amini’s death, which coincided with the popular uprising, and on this day they will all intensify the flame of revolution to overthrow the system. Iranians in all cities have prepared and distributed flyers regarding this call in hopes of Iran’s victory.
