Execution of Death Sentence of ‘Mohioddin Ebrahimi,’ Political Prisoner

The death sentence of ‘Mohioddin Ebrahimi,’ a political prisoner, was carried out this Friday morning, corresponding to 26 Esfand.
Mohioddin Ebrahimi, 43 years old, was from Oshnaviyeh and the father of two disabled children. In 2017, while engaged in portering, he was shot by forces stationed in Oshnaviyeh and subsequently arrested. After spending a year in detention, Ebrahimi was sentenced to death on charges of membership in the Kurdistan Democratic Party.
The Kurdistan Human Rights Network had previously stated that he was arrested in 2010 on charges of cooperation with Kurdish opposition parties by security forces and was released after enduring 14 months of imprisonment.
The Islamic Republic government executed Ebrahimi’s death sentence when less than three days remained until the new Persian year, and since Thursday night a large number of Urmia residents had gathered in front of the city’s central prison demanding the annulment of his execution order.
According to the Hengaw Human Rights Organization, Nouralddin Ebrahimi, the brother of Mohioddin, was also killed in April 2017 while engaged in portering at the Oshnaviyeh border by direct fire from government forces. According to this human rights organization, the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps had also killed the father of this political prisoner.
