Continued Unlawful Detention of Ismail Abdi

The Coordination Council of Iran’s Teachers’ Professional Organizations announced the continued detention of Ismail Abdi.
Ismail Abdi is the official secretary of education in Islamshahr and has 21 years of teaching experience. He is a member of the Tehran Teachers Professional Association and has been imprisoned since 2015 on charges of attempting to improve the country’s educational conditions and defending the material and moral rights of teachers and Articles 26, 27, and 30 of the Constitution.
The Coordination Council of Iran’s Teachers’ Professional Organizations, in protest against the continued unlawful detention of Ismail Abdi, released a statement on the matter stating: “The prosecutor of the first branch of the Evin Court’s enforcement office, in a letter sent to the office of the head of Tehran Province’s judiciary, declared that the case should be referred to the branch to facilitate clarification of Ismail Abdi’s status, as his detention violates the law.
The regime’s security forces have, throughout all years of Ismail Abdi’s imprisonment, prevented his release through case fabrication and unlawful interference. Unfortunately, the judicial system has also failed to take appropriate action to enforce the law regarding this imprisoned teacher, despite concerns about undermining the independence of this branch of government. Repeated appeals by lawyers and especially by the elderly mother of this imprisoned teacher have so far been unsuccessful.”
Professional activists regarding the injustice toward Ismail Abdi’s situation and his family stated: Throughout Ismail’s imprisonment, the agents of the oppressive regime have turned a blind eye to the injustices inflicted upon him and his family, but this oversight has not escaped the attention of us professional activists throughout the country, and if his unlawful detention continues, there will be serious action from professional activists and we will take necessary measures to amplify the voice of this noble teacher.
