Call for Formal Oil Industry Workers on December 27th

Formal employees of Iran’s oil industry will hold a rally on Tuesday, December 27th.

Formal employees working in Iran’s oil industry organizations warned in October of this year that while expressing support for nationwide protests, if the Islamic Republic government does not cease suppression, arrests, and killings, they will stop work and join public gatherings with their families.

The first general strike of workers and formal and informal employees in oil and gas projects, as well as the Oil Company, began on October 28th, coinciding with the commemoration day of Cyrus the Great, King of Iran. They stated that they are convinced that cutting off oil and gas revenues to the Islamic Republic’s dictatorial system can help the dear people of Iran achieve freedom and overthrow the Islamic Republic regime.

On December 16th, formal oil industry employees also held protests and strikes in several southern cities of the country.

Now, the Coordination and Solidarity Council of Formal Oil Industry Employees, stating that they had previously warned that if the Islamic Republic regime does not cease its suppression and crimes, all oil and gas industry employees will stop work and cause heavy losses to the government, has prepared a new call for tomorrow, Tuesday, December 27th, and announced the time and location of the nationwide gathering.

These gatherings are scheduled for two different times between 7 and 10 a.m. Formal employees in Tehran, Ahvaz, Mahshahr, Gachsaran, Shiraz, Isfahan, Mashhad, Ilam, Abadan, Lavan, Khark, Arak, Bandar Abbas, Asaluyeh from two areas, Khangiran, Lamerd, Dalan and Farashband, Fajr Jam, drilling rig and oil platform workers, as well as the central buildings of gas companies in all provinces will participate in this gathering.

The council also announced that given the possibility of weather changes, employees should bring umbrellas and raincoats, and if weather conditions worsen, the gathering will be held within the refineries themselves with all employees present.

What will be the response of the Islamic Republic government to the strike and protest of the largest economic pole across Iran? What measures will it think of to prevent this strike and protest? Has the time for them to believe in the regime’s downfall still not come?
