IRGC Missile Attack on Iraqi Kurdistan

Since last night, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has launched missile and drone attacks on the positions of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan, with three missiles striking the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
Following widespread protests in Iran, particularly in Kurdish-majority cities, the IRGC of the Islamic Republic of Iran launched missile and drone attacks on positions in Iranian Kurdistan to distract the public. In these missile strikes, three missiles also hit the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
Khaled Azizi, spokesperson for the Democratic Party of Kurdistan, stated: The IRGC’s objective with this attack is to tell the Iranian people, especially the people of Kurdistan, that the current crises within Iran, the protests, and this broad revolutionary uprising that has been ongoing for more than two months, along with the extensive solidarity between the people of Kurdistan and other Iranians, are orchestrated by foreign actors outside Iran’s borders.
These IRGC attacks, which have been repeated several times in the past, have also prompted a response from the U.S. Central Command.
The Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan condemned the attacks and stated in a statement: These indiscriminate attacks occur while the Islamic Republic government is unable to stop the ongoing protests in Kurdistan.
The IRGC attack took place as protests continue across Iran, particularly in Kurdish-majority cities of Mahabad, Javanrud, and Piranshahr, which are on high alert. According to civilian reports, on December 1st, five military helicopters were seen heading from Kermanshah toward Javanrud. It is believed that similar to the helicopter attacks and shootings against residents in Zahedan, attacks on Javanrud may be imminent.
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, expressing concern about the escalation of violence against protesters in Iran, particularly in Mahabad, stated on Twitter: The United States is working to hold those responsible for the violence accountable and continues to support the Iranian people.
People in Kurdish-majority cities of Iran declared that these terrorist missile attacks by the Islamic Republic will not distract us. We will respond to bullets with bullets; the people of Kurdistan are willing to shed their blood but will not surrender their land.
