Iran’s Health Minister: We Have Entered the Seventh Wave of Coronavirus

As coronavirus cases surge again in Iran, the health minister announced that the country has entered the “seventh wave” of the disease.
Bahram Einollahi on Thursday night urged citizens whose last vaccine dose was six months ago to receive a booster shot and to pay more attention to observing health protocols.
These recommendations come after the Health Ministry reported that in the 24 hours leading up to noon on Thursday, July 14, eight more coronavirus patients died in Iran.
During the same period, 5,234 new COVID-19 cases were identified in the country, and 645 of them were hospitalized.
These figures come after months of a significant decline in coronavirus cases and deaths.
Peyam Tabarsi, head of the infectious disease department at Masih Daneshvari Hospital, also said, “Three weeks ago, the number of emergency department visits at Masih Daneshvari Hospital was 10 to 20 people daily, and 50 percent of them did not even have coronavirus. However, in recent days, emergency admissions at this hospital have been accompanied by a six-fold increase in outpatient visits.”
Iran’s Health Ministry announced on Sunday, July 10, that coronavirus figures had returned to double digits after several months of decline in the country.
