Continued Gatherings of Social Security Retirees Protesting 10% Salary Increase

Social security retirees continued their gatherings on Wednesday, July 22, in several Iranian cities to protest the government’s decision to increase the salaries of non-minimum wage earners by 10 percent.
These gatherings were held in Shush, Babol, Kermanshah, Shushtar, and Ahvaz.
Retirees in Shush spread an empty tablecloth in front of the governor’s building in protest of their living conditions. In Shushtar, retirees also chanted slogans against Ibrahim Raisi, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran: “Raisi is a liar, where are the results of your promises?”
Social security retirees are calling for the cancellation of the 10 percent salary increase for non-minimum wage earners and the implementation of a resolution for a 57 percent increase in their salaries.
Since the Ibrahim Raisi government’s decision to increase the salaries of non-minimum wage retirees by 10 percent, protest gatherings have been held daily in several Iranian cities.
