More than One Million People Live in Marginalized Settlements in Four Cities of Sistan and Baluchestan Province

More than one million people in four cities of Zabol, Zahedan, Chabahar, and Iranshahr in Sistan and Baluchestan Province live in marginalized settlements.
Among these cities, Chabahar holds the first rank for marginalized settlements in the country. According to the ISNA news agency, officials stated that 60 percent of the population of this port city resides in 330 hectares of land on the city’s outskirts.
Based on the latest statistics, Iranshahr has a population of 120,000 people, and more than 60 percent of this population lives in marginalized and informal settlements without access to electricity, water, sanitation, schools, and other welfare facilities.
