Family of Saeideh Khudoui, Bahai Citizen, Seeks Clarification on Her Detention Status

The family of Saeideh Khudoui, a Bahai citizen, submitted a letter to Gholam-Hossein Mohseni Ejei, the Head of Iran’s Judiciary, requesting clarification regarding their daughter’s condition in prison.
In their second letter to Mohseni Ejei, the Khudoui family, referring to Saeideh Khudoui’s arrest on April 11, 2024, stated that they have repeatedly asked officials of the judiciary about the reason for her detention and her whereabouts, but they receive no answers and are told not to follow up on the arrest and detention conditions.
The letter further states that the pressure on the Khudoui family is solely due to their belief in the Bahai faith and adds: “According to officials of the Islamic Republic, being Bahai is not a crime when one is outside the country, but it is viewed differently inside the country.”
Saeideh Khudoui, who was summoned to the Evin Prosecutor’s Office in late April for defense against charges, was arrested.
Previously, Arslan Yazdani, Ms. Khudoui’s son, and his wife, Samira Ebrahimi, were temporarily detained. While charges against Ms. Khudoui have not been announced, charges such as “propaganda against the system” and “assembly and conspiracy against national security” were mentioned in the cases of her son and daughter-in-law.
The global Bahai community has repeatedly emphasized that security charges brought against Bahai citizens in Iran are completely “baseless” and that the only reason for the arrest of Bahais by the Islamic Republic’s security institutions is their religious beliefs and activities.
