Death of Dual-National Prisoner in Iran; Amnesty International Had Warned About Shokrollah Jaboli’s Serious Condition

Following prison authorities’ denial of a prisoner’s access to medical services, Shokrollah Jaboli, an Iranian-Australian dual-national prisoner in Evin Prison, has lost his life.
The death of the 82-year-old prisoner occurred even as Amnesty International had warned five days earlier about his severe health conditions, including a history of stroke, high blood pressure, kidney stones, herniation, and sciatic pain. The organization emphasized that prison authorities had denied him access to specialized medical services and called for his immediate release and proper medical treatment.
Meanwhile, Shokrollah Jaboli’s son wrote on Twitter about his father’s death in prison, saying he was informed that his father had passed away and he could do nothing to save him.
