Bakhtiari Tribe Calls Government of Islamic Republic to War

The Bakhtiari tribe called the government of the Islamic Republic to war during the memorial ceremony of “Jamshid Mokhtari”.

“Jamshid Mokhtari” from the city of Jonqan was shot and killed by regime forces at the age of 39 during the Ordibehesht 1401 protests. Jamshid had two daughters named Mabina and Golara, worked at the “Golden Welding” company, and participated in the Ordibehesht 1401 protests against inflation.

From the 22nd of Ordibehesht when the office of the Jonqan Friday prayer leader and the Basij office were burned to ashes, a security situation arose in this city and government forces, out of fear, attacked the city and arrested over 50 people.

The protests continued until the end of Ordibehesht month. On the 27th of Ordibehesht, Jamshid Mokhtari along with his friend was surrounded on the street by plainclothes Revolutionary Guard forces in 8 regime vehicles. Jamshid’s friend was immediately arrested by the forces, but Jamshid, due to his athletic build, clashed with the forces and attempted to escape when one of the officers shot him from behind. The bullet passed under Jamshid’s shoulder blade and pierced his lung.

People at the scene transferred him to “Sina” hospital, but due to the punctured lung, he did not survive long and lost his life. Jamshid’s brother, fearing his brother’s body would be stolen, took him home and with the help of neighbors covered his body with ice. However, special unit forces still attacked to take Jamshid’s body, but people stood at the very spot where Jamshid was shot and did not allow the forces to enter the city. On the 28th of Ordibehesht 1401, Jamshid Mokhtari’s body was buried amid a massive crowd to the sounds of Bakhtiari drums and instruments.

Last Thursday, on the 28th of Ordibehesht, the first anniversary of Jamshid Mokhtari (Martyr of the Path of Freedom) was held by a sea of Bakhtiari people with foot-stomping and celebration. The Bakhtiari people during his ceremony with slogans “O Bakhtiari army be ready be ready”, “Turks and Lors and Persians and Arabs be ready be ready”, “For an endless battle be ready be ready”, formally called the government of the Islamic Republic to war.

On the day when Jamshid Bakhtiari lost his life in the soil of Jonqan, the government of the Islamic Republic did not know that a far more devastating storm would erupt months later, shaking not only the soil of Iran but the entire world. A uprising that five months later set the whole world in motion for Iran’s freedom.
