Civil Activist Saba Kordafshari Beaten by Cellmate in Qarchak Prison

Hrana reported on Sunday, the first day of Esfand, about the beating of Saba Kordafshari, a civil activist imprisoned in Qarchak Prison in Varamin, by one of her cellmates. According to this human rights website, citing an informed source, the inmate attempted to strangle Kordafshari by wrapping her hands around her neck, while prison officials remained indifferent spectators throughout the altercation and assault.

Hrana, the news agency of the Iran Human Rights Activists Network, added in reporting this incident that the failure to comply with the principle of separating different types of crimes and housing political prisoners alongside inmates convicted of common and violent crimes has repeatedly led to confrontations and life-threatening dangers in the past.
