Teachers Hold Demonstrations in Over 60 Iranian Cities

Teachers gathered on Thursday, December 2, once again in protest against the non-implementation of the job ranking plan and the failure to increase salaries in over 60 cities across Iran.

According to a report from the Telegram channel of teachers’ professional associations, they are demanding the implementation of a job ranking plan and a salary increase equivalent to 80 percent of the salaries of university faculty members.

Payment of severance benefits and implementation of the salary equalization law, based on the civil service management law, for retirees were among the other demands of the protesters.

Teachers from the provinces of Lorestan, Kurdistan, Alborz, Tehran, Khuzestan, Yazd, Kermanshah, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, North Khorasan, Gilan, Fars, Semnan, Qazvin, Isfahan, Sistan and Baluchestan, Mazandaran, West Azerbaijan, East Azerbaijan, Ardabil, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, Central, Zanjan, Hamadan, Gorgan, Razavi Khorasan, and Kerman participated in these gatherings.

Teachers have held several demonstrations with these same demands in recent months. They held gatherings in around 50 cities on November 11, for example.

In these demonstrations, they criticized the delay and procrastination of the Ebrahim Raisi government as well as the parliament in implementing their demands.
