Fire at Seyadi Port in Assaluyeh Causes ’50 Billion Tomans’ in Damages; Seven Cargo Boats Consumed by Blaze

Seven cargo boats at Nakhltaghi Seyadi Pier in Assaluyeh city caught fire and were completely destroyed. Preliminary estimates put the damage at approximately 50 billion tomans.

According to the Iran Students News Agency, ISNA, citing Seyyed Ali Hashemi, governor of Assaluyeh city, the fire broke out “around 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday, the 19th of Bahman” and “two fiberglass boats and five wooden boats” were completely burned.

Hashemi, stating that “the cause of the incident is under investigation,” said that damage assessment “requires expert evaluation,” but the estimated damage so far is “around 50 million tomans.”

Jahangir Dehghani, general director of crisis management at Bushehr Province Governor’s Office, also stated: “High density and the presence of boats exceeding their nominal capacity at piers in Bushehr Province is dangerous.”

According to IRNA, Jahangir Dehghani said, “The cause of the fire is still unknown, but the commercial vessels were empty of cargo and no one was harmed in this incident.”

Previously, on Thursday, the 11th of Azar, during a fire that broke out in four fishing boats at Lengeh Port in Hormozgan Province, one person was killed and one was injured.

According to Ahmad Sheybani, governor of Bandar Lengeh city, after one fishing boat caught fire, the blaze spread to neighboring boats. The damage caused by this fire was reported as “12 billion tomans.”
