At Least Seven Protest Gatherings Held

On Tuesday and Wednesday, June 16, 2021, a number of contract workers from Khuzestan Telecommunications Company in the cities of Shushtar, Masjed Soleiman, and Ahvaz gathered in front of their respective city telecommunications administration buildings. Additionally, a group of depositors from Caspian Financial Institution protested in front of the liquidation committee building in Tehran, workers from Haft Tappeh Sugarcane Company gathered at their workplace, several workers from the “Mashhad Mall” project protested in front of Future Bank’s administrative building on Golrez Street in Mashhad, and workers from Tehran South Company in Mahshahr held their third consecutive day of protests in the city, all demanding attention to their grievances.

According to Hrana news agency, citing ILNA, on Tuesday, June 15, 1400 (Persian calendar), a number of contract workers from Khuzestan Telecommunications Company in the cities of Shushtar, Masjed Soleiman, and Ahvaz gathered in protest in front of their respective city telecommunications administration buildings.

The protesting citizens cited the non-implementation of the job classification plan and objections to the terms of their contracts as reasons for holding the gathering.

Protestors stated: “Despite more than twenty years of service, our legal rights are not being respected.”

One of the contract workers in Ahvaz said: “Work contracts do not comply with labor law requirements, and as contract workers we lack job security and fear for our future employment, so we are forced to sign these contracts. Our most important demand is to eliminate discrimination between permanent and contract telecommunications workers, which has been ignored for years and no action has been taken to address it.”

They added: “There is a clear difference in wages, salaries, and wage benefits between workers who perform identical work in the same environment.”

Caspian Financial Institution Depositors’ Gathering

According to Hrana, on Wednesday, June 16, 1400 (Persian calendar), a group of depositors from Caspian Financial Institution held a protest gathering in front of the liquidation committee building in Tehran.

The protesting citizens, while displaying protest banners and chanting slogans such as “Caspian committed fraud, the government supported it,” demanded attention to their demands.

According to them, despite five years having passed, depositors of this institution have not received their principal, interest, or returns on their capital investment.

Haft Tappeh Sugarcane Workers’ Gathering

According to the Haft Tappeh Sugarcane Workers’ Syndicate, on Wednesday, June 16, 1400 (Persian calendar), a group of Haft Tappeh Sugarcane workers held a protest gathering at their workplace in objection to their demands not being addressed.

Based on this report, the protesting workers listed their demands, including clarification of the current situation of the company following the announcement of removal of Omid Asadbeigi, as well as the allocation of water rights for irrigating sugarcane fields.

Mashhad Mall Project Workers’ Gathering

According to the Free Union of Iranian Workers, on Wednesday, June 16, 1400 (Persian calendar), several workers from the “Mashhad Mall” project held a protest gathering in front of the administrative building of Future Bank on Golrez Street in Mashhad.

Based on this report, the protesting workers cited the non-payment of their wages and fees by “Exon Petroleum” company as the reason for holding this gathering.

Tehran South Company Workers’ Gathering

According to the Free Union of Iranian Workers, on Wednesday, June 16, 1400 (Persian calendar), a number of workers from Tehran South Company in Mahshahr held a gathering for the third consecutive day in the city.

This gathering by the workers was in protest of the dismissal of some of their colleagues, and according to them, the company’s management is laying off workers and replacing them with new staff.

According to the protesting workers, while groups of workers are being laid off from time to time, new workers are simultaneously working secretly during the company’s night shift.
