Schools Closed in Several Cities of Khuzestan, Fars, Bushehr, Lorestan, and Isfahan

With the arrival of a rainfall system from the southwestern part of Iran, schools and universities in several cities of Khuzestan, Fars, Bushehr, Lorestan provinces, and western Isfahan province were announced closed on Tuesday, December 17.
According to ISNA, based on the announcement of Khuzestan’s Crisis Management Headquarters, schools and universities in 13 cities were closed on Tuesday morning due to flooded streets and rainfall.
The announcement from Khuzestan’s Crisis Management Headquarters stated: “Based on the decision of the prevention, coordination and crisis response command headquarters of Khuzestan, all schools, educational centers and universities in the cities of Ahvaz, Hamidiyeh, Karun, Bavi, Susangerd, Shadegan, Abadan, Khorramshahr, Ramshin, Ramhormouz, Mahshahr, Hendijan and Amiriyeh are closed in the morning shift on Tuesday, December 17, due to flooded streets and rainfall.”
Meanwhile, heavy rainfall lasting three hours on Monday in Ahvaz city caused flooding in the streets and passages of the city, disrupting traffic in the city. According to IRNA, 60 millimeters of rainfall within a few hours caused the main streets of Ahvaz to be filled with floodwater mixed with sewage due to overflowing sewage systems.
According to this report, the waterfront streets of Ahvaz and central streets are closed due to flooding and damaged vehicles caught in the floods, making it difficult for cars to pass through.
Khuzestan’s Meteorological Organization also announced that the highest amount of rainfall recorded on Monday so far was 112.5 millimeters in Abadan. The intensity of rainfall in Abadan reduced horizontal visibility to 100 meters at times.
Khuzestan’s Meteorological Organization had previously issued a warning about the arrival of this rainfall system from Monday until early Wednesday.
The Education Department of Fars Province also announced: All schools in all educational levels in the cities and regions of Shiraz, Lar, Birm, Lamerd, Askenan, Allamroodashт, Ouz, Khonj, Gerash, Qir, Zarqan, Marvdasht, Dehroudzen, Kamfirruz, Deshman Ziari, Fourmaq, Sarostан, Mahormilati, Baladeh, Sepidan, Beyza, Farashband, Firuzabad, Kazerun, Kuh Chenar, Momsani, Jahrom, Fasa, Sheshde, Shibkuh, Mehr, Goledar, Zarindisht, Koar, Araj, and Darab on Tuesday are closed.
Fars’s Meteorological Organization has predicted that this system’s rainfall will be between 40 to 90 millimeters.
Meanwhile, following the continuation of rainfall in southwestern and southern Iran, the head of the information and public relations office of Bushehr Province’s Education Department said that all schools in Bushehr city are closed in both morning and afternoon shifts on Tuesday.
Due to heavy rainfall and atmospheric instability, schools in all cities of Bushehr Province were closed on Monday.
The General Office of Education in Isfahan Province also announced that due to heavy snowfall in western and southern areas of Isfahan Province and rainfall in central areas, predicted temperature drops in the early morning hours, slippery roads and prevention of accidents, schools in the cities of Fereydunshahr, Chadegan, Buin Miandisht, Freidan, and Tiran in all three educational levels are closed on Tuesday.
