Faezeh Hashemi: Ibrahim Raisi is Incompetent and is Being Managed by Others Behind the Scenes

Faezeh Hashemi Rafsanjani, former parliament representative and daughter of Iran’s former president, says Ibrahim Raisi is “incompetent” and that certain individuals behind the scenes “manage him and influence his decision-making”.

Ms. Hashemi, in an interview with the “Iran Watch” website published on Monday, December 20, stated that Ibrahim Raisi “is being managed. In fact, he himself is incompetent; certain individuals behind the scenes manage the president and influence his decision-making”.

She added that “the same is true in the body of government; governorates and administrative offices that are currently all becoming militarized”.

Ibrahim Raisi in the presidential election in June of this year, which faced widespread sanctions against opponents, was announced as the winner with 18 million votes, equivalent to 30 percent of eligible voters.

According to Iran’s Interior Ministry announcement, the voter turnout in this election was 48.8 percent, which is considered the lowest voter turnout in the history of Islamic Republic elections.

Mr. Raisi reached this position despite having no executive experience and claimed in his election campaign that he has a “seven thousand” page program to improve the country’s situation; however, he has so far presented no program acceptable to economic experts.

In another part of her remarks, Faezeh Hashemi said that analyses about whether Ibrahim Raisi is the Islamic Republic’s leadership candidate was like “melon skin” thrown “under” his feet: “The president’s associates know that the country’s problems continue to increase. Usually, all pots and pans break on the president’s head. When this much gets ruined, both from the people’s perspective and from officials’ perspective, no one will make him leader. In my opinion, this is like melon skin, so this too should be eliminated from here and perhaps certain individuals might become leaders in the future”.

According to her, “we are now more guilty than Israel, America, the Pahlavi regime, or wherever else, from everywhere they say we are bad”.

She stated: “The calamities we bring upon our own people, none of them have brought any of them”.

Ms. Hashemi also said: Consider the death toll in Syria, which is 500,000 people, which “we certainly had a role in this issue anyway”, or Yemen, which was seven years of civil war, where “again we had a role in this issue and we have initiated Muslim killing”.

This former parliament representative continued: If we count Palestinian deaths at the hands of Israelis, it seems unlikely to reach one or two hundred thousand people; meaning “we have initiated Muslim killing more than Israel has”.

Iran, along with Russia, in Syria’s civil war provided various military and financial support to Bashar Assad’s government against his opponents, a war that left over half a million dead and millions displaced.

The Islamic Republic of Iran also provides military support to Shiite Houthis in Yemen’s civil war, who control the capital and parts of the country.

“Makhber is Responsible for Confiscating People’s Property”

Faezeh Hashemi, continuing her interview, referring to Mohammad Makhber’s appointment as First Vice President of Iran, said that he, to whom the leadership of economic affairs has been entrusted, all his records have been at the Execution Headquarters, which is responsible for confiscating people’s property, meaning “how can someone who is seeking to confiscate people’s property understand and promote privatization”.

She said that if the government wants to succeed, “it must control Makhber”.

According to Ms. Hashemi, “we heard a statement from these very officials that one should endure hardship. Yes, we also agree. Hardships must be endured. But on the condition that we know what we are going to reach? That is, are we going to reach freedom? Are we going to reach proper economics? Are we going to reach justice? Are we going to reach development? What are we going to reach?”

Calling the Islamic Republic’s policies “senseless” and “Taliban-like”, she said: “If we had proper management, things wouldn’t have come to sanctions. Our enemy is ourselves”.
