“Security Forces” Arrest Mother and Sister of Sattar Beheshti

The Sattar Beheshti Foundation, representing a blogger killed in Iranian police detention, announced that Gohar Eshghi and Sahar Beheshti, the mother and sister of Sattar Beheshti, have been arrested by security forces.
According to the Sattar Beheshti Foundation report, security forces raided the home of Sahar Beheshti at 22:20 on Wednesday, the 12th of Aban, and while conducting searches and confiscating their communication devices, arrested “family members” of Sattar Beheshti.
According to this report, Mostafa Eslami, the husband of Sahar Beheshti, who had protested the conduct of security forces toward his wife and mother-in-law, was also “severely beaten” and arrested.
The Sattar Beheshti Foundation states that the arrest of Sattar Beheshti’s family occurred while a ceremony commemorating the anniversary of Sattar Beheshti’s death and remembering those killed during November protests was scheduled to take place on Thursday at the invitation of the foundation, with the attendance of Gohar Eshghi and political activists.
On the 9th of Aban, coinciding with the anniversary of Sattar Beheshti’s arrest, the Sattar Beheshti Foundation released a video featuring Gohar Eshghi in which she recounts the day of her son’s detention.
Sattar Beheshti was arrested in 2012 by the cyber police for publishing critical content about the Islamic Republic on his blog, and died as a result of injuries sustained from torture during detention.
The court determined Sattar Beheshti’s death as “semi-intentional murder” and sentenced his killer, a police officer, to three years in prison.
In the court’s final ruling, Akbar Taghizadeh, a cyber police officer and the primary defendant in the case of Sattar Beheshti’s murder, was sentenced to three years imprisonment, 74 lashes, and two years of forced residence in Borazjan.
After Sattar Beheshti’s death, 41 political prisoners in Evin Prison testified in a letter that he was held in Ward 350 of Evin Prison on the 10th and 11th of Aban, and had been severely tortured with visible signs of torture on his entire body.
