“Tehran Province is Moving Toward a Third Wave of Coronavirus”

The commander of the coronavirus control headquarters in the metropolis of Tehran warned that the number of COVID-19 cases in the capital is on the rise.
According to Iran’s Student News Agency, ISNA, Alireza Zali said on Monday, September 15 that over the past 24 hours, “approximately 659 patients in Tehran Province were hospitalized with confirmed coronavirus, and this figure has shown an upward trend compared to last week”.
According to him, although this increase in coronavirus cases in Tehran “has a gentle slope”, it can be predicted that “Tehran may be moving toward a third wave of coronavirus”.
Tehran is among the provinces that are in a critical red situation in terms of coronavirus spread. Apart from that, twelve other provinces are also in a red situation, including Qom, Mazandaran, and Semnan, which are all adjacent to Tehran.
Alireza Zali further predicted that the onset of the third wave of coronavirus in Tehran Province “would occur much sooner than in other provinces”.
He then warned that “in the coming weeks, with an increase in the number of coronavirus patients, Tehran will experience new conditions”.
According to official figures, on Monday, 156 people died across the country from COVID-19, and the total number of victims of this disease has now reached 23,313. This figure puts the total number of people infected with coronavirus in Iran at 404,648, of which 348,013 have recovered.
This is while the accuracy of official coronavirus figures in Iran has been questioned by domestic experts and some official figures such as some members of the City Council and parliament representatives.
