Arrest of a Mother and Her Four-Year-Old Child by Ilam Intelligence; “No Information Available About Their Fate”

The human rights website “Hengaw” reported on Monday, November 24, that a month has passed since a four-year-old child and his mother were arrested by security forces in Ilam, with no information available about their fate.
According to the website, the mother and child were arrested at the border of Mehran city when returning from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
Hengaw identified the woman as “Mitra Taghi-pour,” 40 years old, and her four-year-old son as “Mehrsam Rasuli.”
An informed source told the human rights website that despite continuous follow-ups by the Rasuli and Taghi-pour families, the whereabouts and fate of this mother and child, who were transferred from Ilam Intelligence to Isfahan Corps Intelligence on Monday, October 3, remain unknown, which has caused concern for their families.
Ms. Taghi-pour holds a master’s degree in Persian literature and was a resident of Isfahan. According to Hengaw, one of the family members stated: “Mitra and her son were interrogated during the day for eight days at Ilam Intelligence and were transferred to the city’s central prison at night.”
Iranian security and judicial officials have not yet commented on this news.
Hengaw further reports: “Ilam Intelligence informed Taghi-pour’s family of her arrest by phone, but after her husband’s family visited Ilam, they were told that Mitra Taghi-pour had been there for eight days and was subsequently transferred to Isfahan Corps Intelligence.”
According to Mitra’s husband, who is from Sanandaj and resides in the Kurdistan Region, her family “has requested several times over the past month, along with Mitra’s family, that the four-year-old child be returned to them, but to date, no institution has been accountable.”
