Corona in Iran; 140 More Deaths, Signs of Beginning of Sixth Wave of Corona, and Continuation of Night Travel Ban in Tehran

The Ministry of Health of the Islamic Republic of Iran announced that from the second to the third of Aban over a 24-hour period, 7,516 people were infected with COVID-19, and the total number of infected people in Iran has reached 5,868,360.

According to this report, during this time period, 140 more people died as a result of coronavirus infection, and the total number of deaths in Iran has reached 125,363 people.

Many, including some government officials, believe that the actual death and infection rates in Iran are several times higher than the officially announced figures.

  • Signs of the Beginning of the Sixth Peak of Corona in Some Iranian Provinces

As had been repeatedly warned before, the Ministry of Health of the Islamic Republic of Iran announced on Monday, the third of Aban, that the sixth wave of corona “has begun” in some provinces, and with the addition of seven cities in the past week, now 22 municipalities are in a red status.

According to IRNA report, there are also 128 orange municipalities, 215 yellow municipalities, and only 83 blue municipalities.

This is while remote work has been abolished, employees have returned to offices, and gatherings such as Friday prayers have resumed. In the meantime, only the night travel ban remains in place, and according to the Tehran governor, there is currently no decision to lift it.

Under the pretext of the spread of corona, vehicles do not have the right to travel in the city from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m., and breaking this restriction will result in a fine of 200,000 tomans.
