Registration Statistics: 110,000 Excess Deaths in First Half of 1400

New registration statistics show that more than 290,000 deaths occurred in Iran during the first half of the year 1400.

This is while in the same period of years before the corona outbreak, the death rate in the first six months of the year had always fluctuated around 181,000 people.

Registry archives show that the number of deaths in the first half of 1395 was about 178,000 people, and in the same period of 1396 to 1398 it was 181,000 people, 182,000 people, and 186,000 people respectively.

This figure in the first half of last year, when the country was dealing with corona, was about 235,000 people.

Accordingly, in the first half of this year, the number of deaths in the country was close to 110,000 more, and in the first half of last year it was about 53,000 more than the average of these statistics in the same period of years before the corona outbreak.

However, official statistics show the number of corona victims in the country to be much lower than these figures.

The statistics of the Ministry of Health indicate that in the first six months of 1400, just over 56,000 people and in the first half of 1399 about 23,000 people died due to corona infection.

Previously, some officials, including officials of the Iranian Medical System Organization, had stated that the actual number of corona deaths was two to three times the official figures.

The Ministry of Health statistics show that since the outbreak of corona in the country, 118,000 people have died from this virus.

On the other hand, the registration statistics indicate that last year a total of 507,000 deaths were recorded in the country, which was about 130,000 more than the average death statistics in the years 1395 to 1398.

In the first half of the current year, the number of deaths throughout the country was also close to 110,000 more than the same period of 1395 to 1398.

This suggests that the actual number of corona deaths in the country could be more than twice what the Ministry of Health statistics show.
