Hundreds of Part-Time Instructors Strike at the Organization for Intellectual Development of Children and Adolescents Nationwide

Hundreds of part-time instructors at the Organization for Intellectual Development of Children and Adolescents across the country have been on strike for approximately two weeks, refusing to report to work. These citizens are striking in protest of their low wages and benefits after years of service. Officials at the organization have not yet formally responded to the nationwide strike by part-time instructors.

According to Hrana news agency, the news organ of the human rights activists collective in Iran, hundreds of part-time instructors at the Organization for Intellectual Development of Children and Adolescents across the country have been on strike for approximately two weeks, refusing to report to work.

These citizens are striking in protest of their low wages and benefits after years of service. Officials at the organization have not yet formally responded to the nationwide strike by part-time instructors. However, some center managers have threatened all instructors with dismissal.

An informed source regarding this strike told Hrana: “This group of instructors, who comprise nearly half of the organization’s instructors, have hourly contracts and their salaries are extremely low. For example, an instructor with 18 years of work experience who works approximately 60 hours per month receives only 1.1 million tomans. Some managers, as always, have made empty promises to instructors, while others have threatened dismissal.”

According to this source, most of these instructors hold bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
