European Union Allocates 15 Million Euros in Humanitarian Aid to Iran

Among the donors of humanitarian financial aid to Iran are the European Commission, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, Japan, Denmark, Sweden, the United Arab Emirates, Norway, and Austria.
The European Commission announced on Monday, July 12, in a report that the European Union is providing 15 million euros in aid to Iran to assist poor and vulnerable Iranian and Afghan citizens in the country.
According to the report, the European Union’s aid also includes combating the spread of coronavirus in Iran.
The report states that Iran has suffered the most from the coronavirus outbreak among countries in the region and has had one of the worst situations in the world.
The European Commission also noted the presence of 3.65 million Afghan nationals in Iran, and said it has allocated 15 million euros in financial aid to help them and Iran’s vulnerable population, bringing the total financial assistance from this European institution to Iran since 2016 to 76 million euros.
In this regard, the international organization “Financial Tracking Service” reported on Saturday of this week that Iran successfully attracted approximately 31 million dollars (26 million euros) in humanitarian aid worldwide in 2021, of which nearly 18 million dollars is related to the European Commission and is scheduled to be disbursed.
Among the donors of humanitarian financial aid to Iran are the European Commission, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, Japan, Denmark, Sweden, the United Arab Emirates, Norway, and Austria.
Iran received more than 102 million dollars in humanitarian aid from the international community last year, which was the highest amount in the past decade. Approximately 40 percent of this amount was provided by the Japanese government and more than 18 percent by the European Commission.
New statistics from the Financial Tracking Service show that in the first half of 2021, global humanitarian aid by governments reached more than 15 billion dollars, of which 40 percent was related to aid from the United States. The European Commission’s share was approximately 13 percent (two billion dollars). Additionally, only 23 percent of international financial aid objectives were achieved during this period.
Germany, Japan, and Saudi Arabia rank in subsequent positions in terms of humanitarian aid worldwide.
