Coronavirus continues to claim lives in Iran; ‘Behesht Zahra’ staff working in ‘three shifts’

On July 7, the number of daily coronavirus cases in Iran, according to statistics provided by the country’s Ministry of Health, exceeded 17,000.
With 17,202 new cases recorded in the past 24 hours, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Iran reached 3,304,135.
Also in these 24 hours, 166 more people lost their lives due to coronavirus infection, bringing the total death toll to 85,261.
- Increasing cases and deaths in Tehran, Behesht Zahra on alert
Alirezа Zali, commander of the coronavirus disease management operations headquarters in Tehran, says that only in Tehran Province, 5,600 coronavirus patients are hospitalized in treatment wards.
He reported the previous day about 14,000 patients visiting Tehran hospitals.
Meanwhile, leaving Tehran in any direction has been banned and subject to a fine of one million tomans, and many businesses and government offices have been closed.
This has faced opposition from merchants. Qasem Nodeh Farahani, head of the Tehran Chamber of Trades, in an interview with ILNA said that merchants believe if closure is to happen, banks and tax organizations should also be closed and no distinction should be made between merchants and traders and others. The governor of Tehran also said closing at this level is “impossible.”
Simultaneously with the fifth wave of coronavirus in Tehran and increasing deaths, ‘Behesht Zahra’ entered alert status for the fifth time in the past 17 months.
Said Khaal, chief executive of Behesht Zahra Organization, referring to the “sharp increase” in the number of deaths in Tehran, said Behesht Zahra staff are working in two to three shifts.

The newspaper ‘Hamshahri’ in a field report from the Norduz border, citing the spokesman of Iran’s Customs Authority, wrote that in one day, 390 Iranians crossed the Norduz border into Armenian territory.
Seyyed Ruhollah Latifi also said that since the beginning of Tir month, 2,326 Iranians have traveled to Armenia only from the Norduz border.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that Armenian airlines have increased the number of their flights from Iran to Yerevan to 11 flights per week.
