“Ten Thousand Medical Personnel” in Iran to Receive Vaccines in First Phase of General Vaccination

The spokesperson for Iran’s National Coronavirus Combat Headquarters announced on Tuesday, February 10, that in the first phase of general vaccination in the country, approximately 10,000 medical personnel from 635 hospitals will be vaccinated.
AlirezaRaisi said in an interview with Iran’s state television news network that individuals selected for the first phase of vaccination have two characteristics: their coronavirus tests have been negative over the past six months and they work in ICU departments providing services.
He emphasized that medical personnel does not refer solely to nurses but includes all individuals working in ICU service departments.
The implementation of the general vaccination plan against coronavirus in Iran began on Tuesday at Imam Khomeini Hospital in Tehran.
The spokesperson for the National Coronavirus Combat Headquarters promised on the same day: “By the end of 2020, the vulnerable group in phase one, which consists of approximately 1 million and 300 thousand people, will be vaccinated.”
Based on official statistics announced daily by the Ministry of Health, by Tuesday, 58,625 coronavirus patients have died, and the total number of people infected with the disease has reached over 1 million and 480 thousand. However, some non-governmental institutions and parliamentary representatives have questioned the accuracy of these figures, estimating the number of victims to be three to four times higher than official statistics.
