Israeli fighter jets attacked “Iranian and Hezbollah positions” in southern Syria

Israeli military fighter jets attacked positions in southern Syria. According to the Syrian news agency, the target of the attacks were “Hezbollah positions and allied forces of the Islamic Republic.” It is stated that no casualties have been reported.

Syria’s official news agency, SANA, reported on an Israeli air strike from the occupied Golan Heights region targeting southern Syria.

News media outlets reported that “the main target of the Israeli attacks were bases of Iranian-backed paramilitary forces in Quneitra province.”

These attacks took place at the end of Wednesday evening (February 3rd) and involved air-to-ground and ground-to-ground missiles.

The Syrian news agency stated that the Syrian army’s air defense neutralized most of the Israeli missiles. According to the same report, the missile strikes resulted only in material damage and caused no casualties.

According to Al Jazeera news network, the main target of the attack was “one of the bases of Iranian-backed paramilitary forces” near the city of Khan Arnabah in Quneitra province south of Damascus.

The Israeli air force has increased its attacks on various areas of Syria in recent weeks, with the direct target of most of them being “positions of forces affiliated with the Islamic Republic.”

For instance, on January 13 of the current year, the Israeli army attacked bases and weapons depots in eastern Syria in which at least 57 people were killed. It is stated that most of the casualties were “Iranian-allied forces in the region.”
