Alireza Nouri Transferred to Hamadan Prison to Serve Sentence

On Thursday, the 23rd of Bahman, Alireza Nouri, a poet, writer, and member of the Iranian Writers’ Association, was arrested by the Hamadan Intelligence and Security Police at his personal residence and transferred to Hamadan Prison to serve his sentence. He was sentenced to two years of imprisonment by the Hamadan Criminal Court Two in June 2017, and the verdict was upheld in its entirety by the appellate court.
According to the Hrana News Agency, the news organ of the Iranian human rights activists collective, today, Thursday, the 23rd of Bahman 1399, Alireza Nouri, a poet, writer, and member of the Iranian Writers’ Association, was arrested by security forces at his personal residence.
Mr. Nouri’s arrest this morning was carried out based on a warrant issued by the 5th Branch of the Hamadan Prosecutor’s Office for Enforcement of Verdicts and to execute his two-year sentence. This member of the Iranian Writers’ Association was transferred to Hamadan Prison following his arrest to execute the verdict.
Alireza Nouri’s case file was opened in October 2016. He was tried in June 2017 on charges of “insulting sacred values” by the 104th Branch of the Hamadan Criminal Court Two and sentenced to two years in prison.
Examples of this charge include some of Nouri’s poems that were published on social media. Although he denied the accusation, the appellate court upheld the lower court’s verdict in its entirety in November 2017.
On Monday, the 2nd of Tir 1399, he was summoned to the 5th Branch of the Hamadan Prosecutor’s Office for Enforcement of Verdicts to serve his prison sentence, and ultimately, due to the spread of the coronavirus, the execution of his prison sentence was suspended.
