Reuters: Iran’s First Fuel Shipment Will Be Transferred by Truck from Syrian Port to Lebanon

Iran’s first fuel-laden ship destined for Lebanon, which the Hezbollah group previously announced following an agreement with Tehran to send it to help offset fuel shortages in Lebanon, will not go directly to the country.
Reuters news agency reported on Thursday, September 2, citing two informed sources, that to circumvent problems arising from US sanctions, Iran’s fuel shipment will be transferred by truck from Syria to Lebanon.
According to one of Reuters’ sources, this decision was not made due to concerns about a possible Israeli or American attack on the Iranian oil tanker carrying the fuel, but rather due to some domestic considerations and avoidance of creating complications.
Another source also said that the ship’s cargo is planned to go to a port in Syria and then be transferred to Lebanon by truck.
The website “Tanker Trackers,” which monitors oil tanker movements, also confirmed that the “Daran” oil tanker flying the Iranian flag will not deliver its fuel cargo to Lebanon and will instead take it to Banias port in Syria.
The Tehran-backed Hezbollah group announced last month that Iran’s first fuel shipment for Lebanon had been sent, and subsequently announced an agreement to send two additional fuel shipments from Iran to Lebanon.
