At Least 23 More Refugees Drown Near Sfax Coast in Tunisia

It is reported that another boat also sank near the coast of Sfax in Tunisia, but 39 refugees from this boat have been rescued by rescuers.
This is not the first time that boats carrying refugees have experienced accidents near the coast of Sfax. In April as well, 21 other refugees who intended to reach Europe lost their lives in the waters of this region. In March of this year as well, in a similar incident, 39 refugees died.
The International Organization for Migration announced that only in 2019, more than 1,200 refugees lost their lives en route to Europe in the Mediterranean Sea.
During this period, 12,000 people have attempted to reach Europe from Tunisia and Libya due to severe economic conditions and lack of social rights.
