Corona; Isfahan Hospitals ‘Can No Longer Accept Traffic Accident Victims’

The head of Isfahan’s traffic police announced that with the surge in coronavirus cases, hospitals in the province no longer have the capacity to accept victims of traffic accidents.

The ISNA news agency reported on Tuesday, April 24, that Mohammad Reza Mohammadi asked citizens to “be careful during the red phase of coronavirus spread in the province, and not to impose double pressure on medical centers through reckless driving.”

According to Mohammadi, given the “red and concerning situation of coronavirus spread,” the capacity of most hospitals in the province has been allocated to patients with COVID-19.

He also warned that if victims of traffic accidents are brought to hospitals, there is a risk that the patient and their family could contract the coronavirus.

On Monday, the spokesperson of Isfahan University of Medical Sciences announced that the number of patients with coronavirus symptoms hospitalized in provincial hospitals reached 2,027 people.

According to Arash Najimi in a conversation with IRNA, “Given the rapid pace at which the number of coronavirus cases and hospitalizations in Isfahan province is increasing, the number of hospitalized coronavirus patients in hospitals doubled in one week, rising from around 1,000 to more than 2,000 people.”

Currently, cases and deaths from coronavirus in Iran have again increased sharply, and all provinces in the country and medical centers are particularly dealing with patients infected with this virus.

Isfahan Province and especially Isfahan city are among Iran’s attractive tourist destinations, and during the Nowruz holidays, many travelers had traveled to this province.
