A massive explosion in Ahvaz’s Ameri district killed 6 people and injured 9 others. Search and rescue operations continue in Ahvaz. Three gas explosions have occurred in the city within three months. Authorities have yet to explain the cause of these “consecutive” explosions.
On Sunday, October 20 (October 11), at 8:42 AM, a two-story villa in the Ameri bazaar of Ahvaz was completely destroyed following a gas explosion. Six people were killed and 9 others were injured in the incident.

According to this local official, five injured were transferred by ambulance and four others by vehicle to Imam and Golestan hospitals.
The Farsi News Agency also reported from the scene that the explosion was caused by a gas leak, and several residents, shopkeepers, and customers at the location were injured.
Varying numbers have been reported regarding the number of injured. Ibrahim Ghanbari, head of the Fire Department and Safety Services of Ahvaz Municipality, said that the gas explosion in Ahvaz killed three people and injured six.
Two weeks earlier, two explosions occurred in Ahvaz’s Golha district. The IRNA news agency reported, citing Ibrahim Ghanbari, head of the Fire Department and Safety Services of Ahvaz Municipality, that the explosion in Golha district resulted in the destruction of one residential unit in a two-story, four-unit complex.
Ghanbari said four people who were trapped under debris were injured in this explosion, and a 26-year-old woman also lost her life.
The cause of this incident was also reported as “explosion due to gas leak.”
Previously, following two gas explosion incidents on July 8 in one of Ahvaz’s districts, five people were injured.
Ahvaz has become the record holder for gas explosions among Iranian cities with three explosions in one month. However, officials have largely provided no explanation regarding the explosions in this city and have not released the results of investigations into the incidents.
